Chapter 4: HRM Revision Questions

For this section, i will share you a revision question in chapter 4.

  1. Explain the different between employee performance management and performance appraisal.
    • Performance appraisal
      • It is about once (or possibly twice) a year discussion between manager and employee
      • An action between employee and manager – completing a form about performance
    • Performance management
      • It is a year round process
      • Its include objective setting, one-to-one face and feedback, discussion about development and future aspiration and perhaps twice a year the conversation about appraising performance
      • Organisation that practice performance management have higher engagement figures, increased productivity and profitability.
  2. What are the benefits of a performance management system?
    • Encourage quality performance by rewarding who do well
    • Improve current performance by giving workers feedback
    • Assits in identifying the training needs
    • Provide documentation if disciplinary proceedings are needed
    • Provide a channel communication between managers and their subordinates
